Description:

You know I always felt a little annoyed that Wolves were the only pets with enough guts to assist you during many of the donnybrooks of your daily life in the world of Minecraft.
If you have ever had a similar opinion on the subject, then this mod (with a very basic title) is for you, introducing:
Friendly Guardian Pets adds various animals with different attributes, which you can find, befriend, tame, and take with you on various adventures and all of them will assist you during combat.
This mod adds 10 mobs and 7 new items.
Let's begin!

Taming and Coloring Your Pets:

Now, I know that both of these concepts may seem separated from each other in Vanilla Minecraft, but in the mod, they are part of the same process, I know that sounds weird but let me explain it.

Firstly, it's important to say that all new potential pets in the mod have 3 different phases.

Let's call these phases "Trust levels" and depending on each stage, the animal will behave differently and the player will need to interact distinctly with the animal.

When you find any of these animals in the wild, minding their own business, they are in their:

Once you have colored your pet to your favorite color, you simply need to give it another taming item (respectively), and boom, hearts will pop up on top of its head, and congratulations you just tamed your Colorful Pet.

At this level, these animals don't have an interest in interacting with any player and they will simply roam around.

It's vital to not harm the animals during this level, because if you do, you won't be able to upgrade your trust level with them unless you find a way to heal the damage you dealt to them.

However, if you manage to give its respective Taming Item to a healthy animal of the mod, you will upgrade its Trust to:

Healing Bandage:

Now that we ripped off that bandage (am so sorry), we will begin talking about the second and largest group of items which are the colorful:

Well, that's enough from all the items and all the burocratic details. Let's finally talk about the:

Now before we get into the Pets themselves, we are gonna take a couple of detours, beginning by talking about the different processes of:

Trust level Zero:

Or even in some cases, some animals will become hostile and begin beating the Tartar sauce out of you.

But this breach of trust can also be mended with a specific mod item, that we will talk about in a bit.

But that's not all, as they are also a tool you can use to revert the temper of an Angered Guardian Animal.

If the enraged creature is hurt, the bandage heals it.

And if they are in full health again, if you give it one final bandage they will revert to their neutral mode, making you able to once again to try and tame them properly this time.

They are Power-up Snacks that you can feed to your Friendly Guardian Pets so that they can become stronger, more resilient, or more helpful in dire situations.
As of now, there are 5 basic Treats, each one granting your pet a different effect, nonetheless, it must be said that all of them are quite expensive to make which is why you need to use them with appropriate timing as their effect on most of them only lasts for 5 minutes per Treat.

Recipe:

First, let's talk about the 5 basic Treats on this little list to show their different effects:

The reason I clarified that the previous Treats were considered "Basic" was because of the existence of the third group which is also made up of 1 single Item, the golden boy of the treats, the:

Trust level One:

At this level, the appearance of the animal will change (in some cases little and in some cases drastically), however, this DOESN'T mean that you have tamed it, it just means that you are one step closer to taming it.

Many will wonder, what the exact point of this Trust level is and the answer is the second part of the title of this section, the appearance (or coloring) of your future pet.

Yes, in this level you can swap the color of your pet to your liking.

It's important to mention that in this first release of the mod, you can only choose between primary and secondary colors for your pets: becoming Red-colored upon entering this Trust Level but being able to swap it to Blue, Yellow, Green, Purple, or Orange.

Trust level Two:

Last stop before we talk about the Pets themselves, we will talk about the new and nifty:

Pet Assisting Items:

Many things typically go wrong in Minecraft.
Especially when you explore the underground: It is abundant with enemy mobs, dangerous pits, creepers and to top it all, lava, lots of lava.
So it's quite understandable if you don't want to take your fragile and affectionate pet with you.
If that's the case, wouldn't you wanna give an auxiliary layer of protection on those treacherous voyages to your endearing pets?
If you do, well good news because you can give to your Friendly Guardian Pets (As well as the Vanilla Wolves), all the items that I have in store for you.
These articles could be divided into 3 groups:

Now the first group is comprised of one single Item, and that would be the:

Now this medical object is quite handy but elaborate to make as the ingredients that compose this Item require you to explore a couple of different biomes.
However, it is all worth it, as these bandages have quite a lot of functions.
Shockingly, not only do they heal a chunk of your pet's health (around 4       ) but they also cleanse it from specific debuff Effects such as: Weakness, Slowness, Poison, and also Wither.

Pet Treats:

Healing Pet Treat:

As I have done in some of my previous work, the third category is a combination of the preceding two.

It's vital to know that your Pet can only consume this one when they are injured.
In this case, it's a Pet Treat that has the sanative benefits of the Healing bandage but is augmented as not only does it cleanse all the debuff Effects that the Healing Bandage but it also Fully Heals your Pet's Health.
It's important to note that it doesn't replace the Healing Bandage in the process of calming down an Angered Guardian Pet.

And if that wasn't enough it also grants a beneficial effect just as the other Pet Treats, however, the effect only lasts 2 minutes.

New Tameable Animals:

Woodpecker:

These tiny creatures are quite fragile, however, they are still a helpful ally as they are braver than most of the other pets and they will never back down from a fight, no matter how dangerous the enemy might be.

So let's begin our small exploration into the animal kingdom, by talking about the even smaller yet fierce bird:

Snail:

Now I bet that many didn't expect these slimy creatures to be potential pets however here we are.

Now let's get it out from the get-go, these gigantic gastropods are tediously slow, surely not the best companion for scouting adventures but they compensate in terms of combat by being the most resilient pets one can find out there.

As they have a lot of health plus their gigantic shells, are a pretty impressive set of natural armor.

Wolverine:

Now, I know what most of you thought the first time you read the name of these animals, but I bet nearly all of you, have never actually put much thought into these weird and ferocious animals.
In reality, these members of the Mustelidae family are quite astonishing as they are bizarre.
Their appearance is hard to describe as it is quite unlike any other animal out there and their size is not that big yet they usually intimidate and steal food from much larger predators not because they can't win their fights but simply because they can.
This renowned ferocity is the reason why Wolverines have to be respected for in case you accidentally or on purpose hurt these animals, they will become untamed and become aggressive towards the player.

With their horrid sounds, terrifying courage, and what could seem unending appetite, it's easy to understand why these creatures even with their size can become such powerful and scary pets.

Condor:

Considered the largest bird of prey in the entire world, the mighty condor is a powerful and reliable ally.
Sizeable and intimidating, this avian creature is the heftiest of all birds, with its large wings and bizarre grunting noises, it's a creature that really can put unease on anyone who hears it or fights it.

Collared Mangabey:

A Fameless and Endangered species of primate, the collared Mangabeys are peculiar creatures with a very particular color of fur located in their head.
In real life, they live in what is called "Troops" of over 20 members, but it would be kind of bananas to find that amount of monkeys in the middle of your nearest blocky swamp.
They are wonderful creatures that completely adapted to their habitat as their diet is completely endemic to their place of living, consisting of mushrooms, fruits, invertebrates, and seeds.

Now many who have seen any type of documentary about the animals that live in the Savanna will consider that these guys would be one of the last choices you would make to take for a guardian pet.
Sure, they may be the prey of many of the predators of those arid grasslands, but you need to consider that the Blue Wildebeests have a much higher percentage of surviving the encounter with any of their predators than you could ever have in an unprepared circumstance.
And it's also true that these hoofed animals are smaller than their counterparts, but that doesn't make them pushovers.
They are strong, fast, and heavy and those horns that they have on their head aren't there for decoration.
They only have 2 downsides, which are: all that power and energy takes a toll on their hunger, so their diet doesn't heal them very well meaning that you need to give them quite a meal to get healed up, and two, unlike their real counterpart the Blue Wildebeest of the mod, are lonely creatures that might spawn with another pair, however, they don't live in herds of thousands of members like real Blue Wildebeests do because finding that amount of animals together in one place and being able to tame them all with freaking grass would be broken in gameplay and game crashing as well.

If I had to describe these intimidating reptiles with one word, it would be, without a doubt: "Adaptive".
Conceptually, few animals represent the concept so perfectly, to begin with, they are both outstanding climbers and swimmers, which alone makes them stand out among many animals, besides that in real life, they can live in natural environments such as mangroves, shrubland, and even swamps but they are also impeccably capable of living in urbanistic spaces such as cities. But their versatility doesn't stop there, as their diet can be pretty much anything that is carnivorous, such as fish, chickens, small animals like cats and dogs, and even carrion.
Many will wonder, is there any real downside to these imposing creatures, well Yes, there is, my anonymous reader, as these slippery creatures are by far the most difficult pet to find in the entire catalog, mainly because of their size, their color, oh and the bewildering place they live in.

Blue Wildebeest:

Water Monitor:

Sulcata Tortoise:

Now these small reptiles may not look at first glance as intimidating or as imposing as some of the other pets in the mod, however, their resilience and tenacity are nothing but admirable, more so considering the rough and shriveled environment they live in.
Impressively, they are quite the tough cookies as they find one of the harshest environments in the world a home, and of course, some of that can be attributed to their compact but durable shell, which helps them win and endure some fights where their survival seemed unlikely.

Pronghorn:

In real life, these intrepid but unknown animals are incredibly unique, as they have the grand title of being in real life "The most rapid land mammal in the entire Western Hemisphere of our Planet".
In the game, this is translated to being by far "The fastest land mob there is".
Besides having this incredible nimbleness as their advantage, the Pronghorn also has the quality of having the most extensive diet compared to any of the other pets.
Now the one downside they do have is their place of residence itself. Finding those empty wastelands of colored rock is quite strenuous. So unless you get really lucky and spawn right next to a Badland, you might take a while to see these horned and speedy creatures.

Sea Otter:

These unimaginably adorable animals are quite a case, as their relatives and their respective family are mostly comprised on its entirety of land mammals, however, as the black sheep of the family they chose to take a different lifestyle after millions of years of evolution by becoming marine mammals.
So much so, that they can live in absolute peace without touching a single patch of land for most of their lives.
This has come with its advantages and disadvantages because on one hand, they have perfectly fixed themselves to their cold and aquatic environment, but on the other, they have distanced themselves from their familiar traditions by becoming quite clumsy animals on land.
But it's not like it worries them, as they live a comfortable (on most occasions) and relaxing life, by just floating on their favorite spot of water, eating snacks that they catch underwater, and being warm in freezing weather thanks to their dense and fluffy fur.
